Midgets Win Silver Championship at New England Classic Tournament

Although they started slow, the midgets came roaring back winning 3 straight to capture the Silver Championship of the New England Classic by defeating the Southern Connecticut Stars Sunday afternoon 4-3 in overtime. The winning overtime goal was a beauty initiated by Mike Dee to Adam Letarte who feed Joe Porter for the tournament winning goal. The Midgets advanced to the Silver Championship game as a result of shutting out the Bear Mountain New York team 2-0 Sunday morning. 

The tournament championship was a great team effort. Raptors' goalie Molly Depew played well Saturday while Vincent Rousseau played well between the pipes on Sunday for the Raptors. The Raptors' top point scorers during the August 5th - 7th tournament were Andrew Grasso and Adam Letarte with 3 goals, 4 assists and 7 points each. The Midgets will play their last tournament of the 2011 season when they return to the New England Sports Center in two weeks to compete in the North American Summer Championships from August 19th - 21st.
